Ready to Constitute Makhana Kheer Mix

Background:
Earlier developed makhana kheer mix did get separated in the packet in different layers during handling and transport and it was not possible to make good quality kheer, if one wanted to use only a part of the mix from a packet. Technology Details:
The developer mix is a homogeneous mass of ingredients, which cannot be separated as in case of a simple admixture of different ingredients. The grinding of makhana in the developed process is done at normal room conditions without heating the makhana, whereas it is done after roasting the makhana in an iron pan on fire in the conventional process. The developed product thus eliminates an operation and minimizes the energy consumption. Use of this mix for preparation of makhana kheer eliminates the cooking processes followed in the conventional household method. The developed ready to constitute makhana kheer mix has a longer shelf life and can be transported at much lower cost as compared to that of popped makhana to anywhere for marketing for better remuneration. It saves time, energy and enhances convenience in the preparation of makhana kheer. The developed product has helped in increasing the value of makhana many folds.
